Piece of the Long Painting is painted in London opposite the House of Parlament

A piece of the Long Painting in support of sustainability has been painted by Alexander Borissov in London in November 2013, making the painting 1738 meters long.

The Long Painting project has started in July 2012 in Switzerland, the country of the artist's residence. During 2012 - 2014 over 40 pieces of the Long Painting have been painted in various locations, including Austria, Brazil, Italy, Maldives, Sweden, Switzerland, the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom.

The painting is made in abstract-expressionist style on decommissioned cotton hand towel rolls, donated to the project by the Swiss subsidiary of CWS-boco, the internationally leading provider of ecologically friendly hygiene solutions.

The painting is currently over 1 km 800 metres long and is growing.

100% cotton-made, each roll can be washed up to 100 times in its lifetime and is 100% recyclable. Cotton rolls replace paper napkins - this saves trees and reduces carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The aim of the Long Painting creation is to draw public attention to the importance of responsible consumption and recycling and to encourage people to better utilize recycling opportunities.

Painting in London was highly inspirational. Mild autumn weather, unusually blue sky and falling leafes have added unforgettible flavour of tranquility in the middle of this busy cosmopolitan city.
